What is Sustainability?
Project Objective:
Reduce the amount of packaging used on a top item in order to meet Wal-Mart's Sustainability objective
Approach:
Performed stacking analysis on several board grades to determine the exact grade required to protect the customer's product while not over-packaging.
Results:
Saved 28.8 tons of corrugated/yr = 363 trees
Also saved:
- 700 million BTU’s = to the energy used for 8 homes.
- 135.846 lbs CO2 = to CO2 emitted from 12 cars.
- 211.275 gallons of water.
- 2 garbage trucks of solid waste.
